What is a Doula?

A labor doula attends the birthing family before, during, and just after birth. The labor doula is trained to provide emotional support from home to birth site. The doula eases the transition into the birthing environment, is there through changing staff shifts and alternating provider schedules, serves as a labor support partner to give the mother and her partner the added comfort of additional support throughout the entire labor process. There are a variety of titles used by those offering these kinds of services, such as birth assistant, labor support specialist, and doula

Labor Doula Service

Although, I do not provide any medical care, As your Doula I will be available to come to your home at the moment your labor begins. I will be a constant presence during your labor and delivery providing comfort and support which will include some pain relief techniques including relaxation, breathing techniques, and laboring positions. I will also encourage participation from your partner. As your Doula, I am your advocate and my goal is to help you have a positive safe birth experience. Together we can do it!

These are just a few benefits of hiring a Labor Doula

Women who had the continuous support of a Labor Doula were more likely to delivery their
baby without the assistance of forceps or vacuums and may have slightly shorter labors,
and were less likely to have cesareans or use pain medications.
